Kinetic Energy Calculator

A moving object carries kinetic energy KE = ½mv². Enter any two of energy, mass, and speed to find the third, with unit conversion and full working.

Kinetic Energy Calculator

KE=12mv2KE = \frac{1}{2}mv^2

How to interpret the result

Energy grows with the square of speed: doubling speed quadruples the kinetic energy. That is why a small rise in driving speed makes collisions so much more destructive — the energy the brakes or crumple zones must absorb scales as v².

Assumptions

  • Object treated as a point mass (no rotation)
  • Speeds far below the speed of light (non-relativistic)
  • Velocity entered as speed (magnitude)
