Weber (Wb)
Quantity: Magnetic flux · Category: Derived SI
The weber is the SI unit of magnetic flux — the total magnetic field passing through a surface. It is the flux whose change at one weber per second induces one volt in a single loop.
Relation to SI
1 Wb = 1 T·m² = 1 V·s = 1 kg·m²/(A·s²)
Examples
- Faraday's law links induced voltage to webers per second of flux change.
- The flux through a 1 m² loop in a 1 T field is 1 Wb.
- Generator design starts from the webers of flux the rotor sweeps per second.
