$\nabla$ — Nabla (del)

Nabla (∇) is the 'del' operator of vector calculus. Applied to a scalar it gives the gradient (steepest increase); dotted with a vector it gives divergence; crossed with a vector it gives curl. It is the workhorse of field equations.
